22 January 2023 – Return visit to the St Briavels Ukraine Community Hub to present a HS Award to the local community for their enduring selfless support to refugees, received on their behalf by Elif, the ‘cheeky monkey’.

25 January 2023 – Cheltenham’s Act of Remembrance for Holocaust Memorial Day – a most thoughtful and thought-provoking service.
25 January 2023 – with Chief Constable Sarah Crew, Avon & Somerset Police, at an awards ceremony where she recognised 34 police officers and staff for outstanding transformative work during Op Bluestone. Sarah later received a High Sheriff’s Award for exceptional leadership.
29 January 2023 – Well worth waiting for, the GAM Big Birthday Bash, delayed due to snow in December, delighted a full-house.
1 February 2023 – After the final induction meeting with my successor in nom, Henry Robinson, Julian Archard the Under Sheriff of Gloucestershire receives a High Sheriff’s Award for being my ‘personal emergency service’ over the past year, and a thoroughly good chap.
1 February 2023 – the Knife Angel arrives in Gloucester for a month-long campaign against knife crime and violence.
2 February 2023 – Going the extra mile, and some. Youth & Community Worker Tracy Manning, Nailsworth Youth Club, does a brilliant job at the Club, and gathers and distributes funds and food to support those in the community who are struggling. An extremely well-deserved High Sheriff’s Award.
7 February 2023 – Nick Broady, chair of Pied Piper Appeal, receives a High Sheriff’s Award for running an exceptional charity supporting many sick or disabled children in Gloucestershire, and for sustaining the output of other charities who share similar objectives. World class Nick, well done and thank you.
9 February 2023 – Valerie Webb JP receives a High Sheriff’s Award for dedicated service as secretary to the High Sheriff’s Multi Agency Forum since its inception.
12 February 2023 – With Reverend Father Lubomyr Pidluskyj at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Gloucester where High Sheriff’s Awards were presented to Laura Bullivant for individual exceptional work supporting citizens in Ukrainian as well as refugees in Gloucester, and to the Ukrainian Community in Gloucester, many of whom arrived here as refugees after WWII, for their work with newly-arrived refugees from the present war.

4 March 2023 – Ukraine Social Club in Gloucester witnessing hand-making camouflage nets for the front line from a donation of 1100 sets of old bed linen – the colours are tuned to the seasonal need in theatre.
6 March 2023 – 1st round of the Primary Schools Mock Trials, Amberley v Rodborough Community, organised and run by members of the Magistrates’ Association in the Chamber of Stroud District Council. The crime, possession of a blade in a public place, well debated with many lessons emerging.

7 March 2023 – Having presented High Sheriff’s Awards to 20 highly deserving police officers, staff and volunteers, DCC Shaun West surprised me with a gift of a pair of bookends hand-carved from local stone.

21 March 2023 - Cirencester round of the Mock Trial competition and Charlie Penfold is in the dock again - terrific work by the Magistrates' Association as well the schools involved.

26 March 2023 - Endex, the conclusion of an epic and most enjoyable year. Henry Robinson, now the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, and the latest in a long and distinguished line of High Sheriffs, will now take up the running - and he seems to have the legs for it!
